The logistics industry is undergoing a significant transformation with the adoption of smart technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, big data analytics, and cloud computing. These innovations promise to enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs, improve real-time visibility, and foster sustainability. However, despite their transformative potential, the widespread adoption of smart logistics solutions remains uneven and challenging across regions and sectors.
Organizations often face numerous barriers including high implementation costs, inadequate digital infrastructure, data security and privacy issues, lack of standardization, and integration difficulties with legacy systems. Moreover, change resistance, lack of technical expertise, and regulatory uncertainties further complicate the path to adoption. In emerging economies, these issues are frequently exacerbated by limited funding, insufficient government support, and low levels of technological awareness among stakeholders.
To foster a more inclusive and practical discussion, I would like to invite colleagues and researchers to share their thoughts and experiences on the following questions:
Your insights whether based on academic research, industry practice, or regional expertise are invaluable to this dialogue. Let’s collaborate to identify pathways that enable smarter, more resilient, and inclusive logistics networks.
