I would say “both” . As kids need to see our endless determination and passionate towards innovations and also they can take it further through our assets.
many thanks bringing up this nice discussion to the RG community dear Dr Rizk Elazhary .
Our children will need our money for investments in their human capital, particularly education and health. As the world is proceeding, education in all segments, such as primary, secondary and tertiary, these all are becoming more and more expensive. For example, we can observe data of tuition fee increases in the universities of the United States of America. Without money, I will not be able to provide sufficient access to quality and globally competitive education to my children.
It is possible our scientific and humanism legacies will not benefit our children directly as perhaps they will not be able to access it. Money provides comfort and security. No harm in that.
Intelligent people do not need to live in poverty.
Scientific legacy of any generation benefits the entire mankind. Money benefit your direct heirs. Hopefully, they are smart enough to spend it properly.
May I argue that scientific discoveries of the past in many cases facilitate renewing business models of corporations and universities. Evolution of science for example in the IT-sector evolved toward microservices, cloud-computing, etc.. Scientific legacies will live on forever as facilitators but money might not faciliate prospertity of man kind all the time. This is due to money laundrey, cheeky collusions on the markets: cartels, failed monetary investment. Yours sincerely, Bulcsu Szekely
Scientific legacy is more relevant since the person is now a role model for innovation and perhaps thinking outside the box. With money, depending on the child, he/she may use it wisely (for example setting up benevolent funds for science research) or squander it away (such as through gambling or wasteful spending).
Financial Legacy: People work their whole lives to try to obtain a financial legacy to pass onto their children. We usually think of parents passing down money or land to their loved ones.
However, Parents need to ensure that their heirs have the necessary financial skills to navigate life by living financially fit lives themselves.
Children and teenagers need to learn the fundamentals saving and budgeting, the dangers of debt, as well as, making their inheritances grow by obtaining passive and portfolio income through strategic planning.
Intellectual Legacy: We should want to expose our children to science, technology, math, fine arts, music and engineering in order to provide them with the skills that they need to become independent thinkers.
and most importantly the moral legacy needs to be gifted...
Since the question is comparing which they benefit more from, I believe it is Scientiific legacies. This means that our generation will already have a lot of scientific innovations that they can leverage on to make money and also inherit; they will also be equipped to make better innovations from sciences and consequently; make more money.
It depends on the environment children receive at their residence so to say - Home. Scientific legacy & money both are not to be compared with each other. Scientific legacy is a mental attitude & also a moral code & conduct which cannot be matched with the money as Money is means & not an end itself.
