I have a very specific question regarding bone dynamics and osterderm formation in crocodilians: is bone remodelling in long bones enhanced during the formation of osteoderms, due to calcium mobilisation?
For instance, lactation in mammal involves heavy calcium requirements, so ribs and long bones are more remodelled compared to a normal situation. Such information is crucial for paleohistologic interpretations of armoured dinosaur histology.

A comparative study of bone injuries in herons shows that due to the laying of eggs (the formation of calcium eggshells) by females, their bones become much more fragile, which significantly increases bone traumatism in females: Boev, Z. 1986.
