What is the future of scientific publishing in light of the trend of most journals to open access? And will this affect the quality of the scientific publication, as the view is still that the open-access is of lower quality and prestigious than the non-open one?
first of all, this will eliminate research from the less wealthy countries, and, inside the country, from most of the institutions.
Quality does not depend on whether the paper is open access or not, but on the authors and the peer-review process. Many journals, which are usually subscription-only, offer open access for selected papers, but the authors have to pay for this. It is obvious that the quality will not be lower after additional payments. The difference is between the financial models: For open access, the authors have to pay more, for non-open, the users (or their libraries/institutions). Very often open access is mixed with predatory publication, which is not true.

Open access provides more chances for developing countries to access quality research. In addition, open access papers are more likely to be cited. Note that the quality of publications does not depend on being open access or not (but keep away from predatory journals). On the one side, many journals offer discounts and waive to developing countries and early-career scientists. On the other side, for senior scientists, by choosing open access you are showing that you can support your research with projects. So, if you can, you should go for open access.
Science and research results should be freely available to people. In my opinion, "open access" is the way to follow!
We need to share information and knowledge among us to go far and achieve development. The quality of a study and article is not depending on such fees, therefore we should really aim at "open access". Even if the impact factor would be lower, you will reach more people. For me, this is the key point in research.
Scientific publishing in light of the trend of most open access journals is better because most of the journal issues are open access now a days and easy to refer for researchers, less time consuming.

In my experience At beginning we published 2 papers on paid journals later on i realized that open access is good for us but it must be purely peer reviewed. Another things is that publishing organization should not have money making interest from authors but they must be funded by government. Now and later i will go open access.
