I am searching for new materials which can be used for Anti Refraction coating (ARC) in solar cell, I would like to know what parameter should I consider other than Refractive Index and transmittance for the selection of materials for ARC. and one more thing do I have to consider the strain effect produced by ARC coating on the solar cell?

According to my view the material should be transparent in the wavelength range under consideration as well as it should have a good (+ive) extinction coefficient in the wavelength range for the solar material you have used. It should have wavelength independent zero/ minimum dielectric constant and dielectric loss. All these properties can be confirmed through ellipsometry. The material should have good striction with the photovoltaic material

Additional points to consider to what has been said by Asma:
- The antireflective coating passivates the underlying surface of the solar cells.
Fore example the silicon dioxide passivates the silicon surface.
- It protects environmentally the solar cell,
- It must be easily applied or produced on the material for cost effective manufacturing
