Hello experts,
I've been trying to do some research on educational measurement and more generally how the act of measuring a variable changes its properties. I'm just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of articles that could flesh that idea out a little further/shed some light onto this phenomenon.
I'm also not sure if Observer Effect accurately describes said phenomenon.

I would not call it "observer effect", but rather refer to the term you find in the literature known as "quantum measurement problem". This is probably one of the biggest issues in physics and there is a lot of nonsense and speculation out there. The role of the observer is part of the debate. For example, one finds particularly in the older literature that it takes a conscious observer to create collapse of the wave function. This sounds like metaphysics. The debate is not settled, but some modern interpretations may even get rid for the need of an actual collapse of the wave function and a conscious observer (replace it by a bath which is itself a large quantum object with many degrees of freedom the quantum system under consideration couples to). All this is still under debate and far from settled. I recommend literature which adds to the debate the phenomenon of decoherence. Although it seems that there is consensus that decoherence alone cannot solve the measurement problem, I think it adds a very important component to the interpretation of real world phenomena. Also it has very important practical implications, e.g., when it comes to realize a quantum computer.
