I am hoping that someone can help me to resolve a contact problem in a 3D simulation between a ball and disc.

- I have a 3D general model ; a discrete rigid ball and deformable disc.

- Initial BCs applied to encastre bottom surface of disc

- BC applied to reference point attached to ball by rigid body constraint. Displacement BC is applied in negative z-direction (U3) toward surface of disc (-0.001 mm). The resulting contact presure between the ball and disc is zero.

- When the displacement BC is changed to -0.1 mm, the maximum contact pressure is larger than if a normal load of ~4 kN was applied to Hertzian contact mechanics for a point load equation.

I think it must be a small problem with the contact interaction but can't identify it.

I have attached the input file.

Thanks,

Ruby
