In our research work we have synthesised a compound which is highly hygroscopic. It catches moisturise such that when dried sample is subjected to weihing immediately air moisture has been trapped and unable to make sample for NMR. please guide us
The thorough solution:
Do the sample preparation in a glove box. Make sure your NMR solvents have been sufficiently dried as well.
The pragmatic solution:
What happens, if the compound catches moisture? Does it decompose?
If not, you'll see the water in the 1H NMR, but that should not render interpretation of the spectum impossible...
Is it really mandatory to weigh the sample?
If not, put the proverbial "tip of a spatula" of substance into the NMR top, add the solvent and close the tube - just be quick about it...
In addition to the previous comments there are several ways to minimize the interfer of water signal in NMR spectra. You may conduct a presat experiment or use one of the available pulse sequence to eliminate the water peak i.e. Watergate. Moreover heteronuclear bidimensional experiments as HSQC and HMBC are not affected by the presence of water.
