Depends whether the type of neurons is important for you. For example, human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y can be differentiated into dopaminic-like neurons in culture in the presence of retinoic acid. Human neuroblastoma cell line IMR-32 can be differentiated into cholinergic-like neurons using BrdU and cAMP. Both cell lines can be purchased from ATCC.
I have screened and identified histone de-acetylase (HDAC) inhibitors using the computational approaches towards class IIa HDAC enzyme (HDAC4)as therapeutic targets for spinocerebellar ataxia.
Now, in order to validate the synthesized molecules I need to test them on neurological cell line. What I understood from your response is that I have to identify neurons involved in cerebellar degeneration and the cell line.
Or can there be a generalized cell line for validation testing of the molecules, kindly suggest.
