Yes its true Nepal is land of community forestry and it give strength in socioeconomic development of hill people of Nepal. as far as green economy is concern which in other sectors do apply is not in the case of community forestry. It can be valuated in terms of resources they generated and consumed with respect to optional value of these resources. The quantification of these values may be available with government or agencies operating such projects.Certainly even in loose terms it supported green economy as community forestry based on sustainable utilization of these green resources.
Community based forestry of Nepal particularly Community Forestry, Collaborative Forestry, Community Based Watershed Management, Buffer Zone Community Forest and Leasehold Forestry become the best model of ecological economy which have created natural capital and provides economic opportunities from natural goods and services. But the question is how such regimes are sustainably managing to perpetuate natural goods and services for balancing environmental conservation and economic development. I suggest to direct your research on that direction. It is important to note that community forests of Nepal are overstock in most cases and in few cases understock due to lack of sustainable management. However, forestry sector specifically community based forestry of Nepal could be the vehicle to create green job and income to reduce rural poverty. Government of Nepal has formulated policy, plan and program to create significant number of jobs without compromising the environmental conservation from forestry sector and that eventually contribute for prosperous Nepal and Happy Nepali which is the National development vision of Nepal. Community forest management is considered as one of the successful stories in case of Green Economy Sector in Nepal recognised by UNEP. It was initiated on experimental basis in 1980s in Nepal. After community forestry programs deforestation and forest degradation has been controlled drastically. This changes was due to active participation of local peoples. With the formation of Community Forestry Users Group,local forest users can gain membership that encourages them practice sustainable management. Community forestry program acted as a boon to poor people too. It managed to reduced pooverty by creating rural employment.
