Why there is still a need to have time or clock synchronization in Ad hoc wireless networks especially UAVs or VANETS when we have atomic clocks. As atomic clocks are soo accurate that they lost less than a second of accuracy in 300 years.
I can understand the need of clock offset correction for at least one time but when we have very accurate clocks then as clock skew can be supposed accurate and hence no need to correct clock offset!
Need explanation kindly?

Any vehicle which employs automatic control for stability, steering and movement, is in need of a controller which usually utilizes a feedback signal in a time-based frame. For many applications, particularly in aerospace engineering, the electricity has some duration and longevity constraint. Moreover, as a MatLab Simulink model has some SIMULATION TIME block in the model, many control-laws (controllers) rely on the explicit-time to calculate and integrate their math functions and other signals required for the embedded control system. The clock sensitively interacts with the electronic circuitry. Many control systems, particularly those in aerospace engineering, are based on optimal control-laws for energy minimization. However, optimal control-laws are critically sensitive to any diminutive error in the explicit-time (fed into the circuitry) even one jitter at scale of I guess .01 second. With requiring such an accuracy to control a mechanical or flight vehicle, if you consider that sometimes any error in control action could be life-threatening for many people, then you may guess the importance of a highly accurate on-line clock for a dormant, or remotely flying automatic system as a swarm of UAVs.
You can not deploy an atomic clock with your UAV in the sky.
