We have done a clinical study on herbal tooth paste. We wanted to know if there were any nicotine or nicotine related contents in the samples as there were few papers which raised concerns about presence of nicotine related compounds in herbal based tooth pastes. We got sample analysis done in IIT mumbai. They gave the results but refused to interpret the data. If any one who is interested in giving authentic interpretation we would gladly welcome an duly acknowledge.

In order to interpret the GCMS one has to have a rough idea of what are the probable nature of compounds or at least the natural products present if only you know the 'herb' or the plants that are present. But presence of nicotine can be understood from the various fractions present in the GC.
Nicotine and its derivative peaks (if present) can be checked on library search. Further, every MS data with specific RT, can be analysed by mass fragmented data.
Interpretation needs time and effort, and hence, co-authorship- acknowledgement would not do.
Where is the assurance that the results get published and that too in an internationally reputed (possibly with an impact factor) journal?

Dear B.B.Misra, I don't think it will fulfill your bill because I cant guarantee any thing. One of our study was published in a journal with no impact factor. But, it did get some citations and decent number of downloads. This is my point of view. I maybe wrong. Anyways thanks for the response.

This analysis is not a difficult one as well as it's interpretation. I do not know what results are provided by IIT, Mumbai. Since you know the target ( nicotine), it's presence could be easily verified by SIM analysis in GCMS. Analysis under Scan mode can be used for qualitative identification of the target by carrying out library search and the target presence can be further confirmed my mass chromatogram.
