According to my experience and observation; I think Knowledge and teaching skill both are on the opposite side of the coin.

If person has excellent knowledge then too it doesn't means that the person is able to share his/her knowledge (i.e. we can not say that the person also has teaching skill).

And if person has teaching skill it does not means that person has good knowledge.

So both things need to be developed and it is possible with training and acquiring new knowledge.

So training is must for all the person and for that universities and colleges are organizing FDP (Faculty Development Programmes), Orientation Programs, Refresher course, Short term course etc.

School teacher

• Support students that may be struggling or require special assistance
• Ensure that students are equipped to take standardized tests
• Support the school with administrative procedures
• Liaise with parents with regards to students' progression

University lecturer

• Advise students on their coursework and guide them in subject progression
• Conduct research into their subject area and publish academic materials
• Work with the educational institution on administrative matters
• Collaborate with other lecturers and/or professors in revising and updating curriculum content

I think it's very important for any teacher to improve his teaching skills, because of that the bridge between the teacher and students is the only way can transfer the knowledge. so if this bridge is broken, students cannot benefit from the the lesson.

the teacher is the only one can built that bridge, so he must have the right way in building it and other main abilities like:

- Ability to determine wrong preconceptions and Alternative Concepts which impedes the acquisition of information by students.

- Ability to start from what the student has to build new knowledge.

- Ability to constructing and using performance indicators in evaluations.

and other many skills such as communication, adaptability, leadership, organization, imaginative, innovative, commitment ..etc

It doesn't matter if the university offers that type of courses for teachers or not, but we can find online courses and everyone can learn by himself.
