Do you mean the cameras inside the vehicle? Usually, the data collection of NDS is a long period of time so the effect of the data collection equipment will be minimized when compared to other techniques such as driving simulation. You may find a discussion about the advantages of NDS in my paper: Article A Perceptual Forward Collision Warning Model using Naturalis...
Hey Mostafa H. Tawfeek , Thank you for your suggestion.
In recent years, there has always been concern about the effects of cameras inside the vehicles on driver behavior. Despite the different approaches were taken on traffic safety studies (example: First, to avoid the influence of the camera on the behaviors of participants, as well as to get used to the circumstance of the study, participants are asked to drive in roads. Then, after that, their behavior and performance are studied in the next step), need to use an approach can be considered which minimizes the effects of cameras. Do you think some equations can be proposed based on various parameters such as the number of participants or the time duration of filming to minimizes the effects?
This is a very good question. As far as I know, there is no such equations but I think this area is interesting and worth exploring.
But I think the effect of the cameras will decrease over time (i.e., after a month of daily driving, for example, the driver will use to the presence of the camera and the effect on the behavior will be minimal). Hence, I would say the duration is an important factor to be considered.
So... does it turn out that research that accurately evaluates the time duration needed to adapt participants to the equipped vehicle, could have the potential for discussion?
It could be especially for limited resources. For example, let's say you are trying to do the test using two instrumented vehicles only and you need a handful number of volunteers so the test duration will be crucial.
I read a study that discussed the test duration but in driving simulators.
I actually can not remember the study but you might find it in the references that I cited in the paper I mentioned before. In my paper, I discuss briefly the pros and cons of the driving simulator, test tracks, and NDS.
