Hi, i am trying to simulate multilayer metal deposition using 'element birth and death' technique.
I have glued the three volumes ie substrate, layer1,layer2 as shown in figure. Then, i am trying to kill the layer2 to simulate the deposition of layer1. At last, i will activate the layer2 and apply the load on the layer2.
Am i thinking in the right direction?
There are 43 loadsteps in each layer so i am using do loop but, i am getting following error,
Where do i place 'ekill' command in my code??

You cannot use LSSOLVE with "element birth and death". You must use SOLVE.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have made changes in my APDL script as suggested by you. Thanks to you that I am not getting errors anymore while
using 'ekill' and 'ealive' command.
The calculation for first layer ran smoothly, but when i activated the second layer, i ran into another set of errors as shown. I am using the same 'do' loop that i have used for the first layer with few changes like:
time_now is 7.11 instead of zero
i have activated all the layers ie 1st and 2nd
I have attached the screenshot of the script. If you find some errors
please let me know. Again, I am greatful for your help.

Try to apply heat to the nodes using heat flow instead of heat flux.
I don't think you need to erase the convection. Several warnings will appear, but the solution will occur.
