Nowadays, I can see a few journals/editors close the review and proceed with the decision on the manuscripts much before the deadline given to the reviewers. In these cases, the quality time already invested by the reviewers on such manuscripts amidst their commitments is getting wasted. The journal/editors are expected to wait until the assigned due date. If the decision (closing the review) is taken the very next day of the deadline, it is also accepted as we have to consider it happened due to the reviewer(s) delay. On most occasions, reviewing is a voluntary and free service to the research society.

What is your opinion, my friends?
