I have a ceramic material with a cylindrical shape sintered at high Temp. , I am trying to minimize the preferred orientation of this specimen during x-ray diffraction. unfortunately, we do not have the spinning option in the x-ray Lab. are there any ideas to do this work without crushing the sintered specimen because crushing will cause microstrain in the powder.

preferred orientation is very often a critical issue in XRD applications. I think there is not real other way out than spinning the sample and/or crushing to powder.
But if you only are interested in peak positions, preferred orientation does not really bother you. However peaks could be missing. Therefore please take diffractograms at different sample positions and/ or at different sample orientations with respect to the x-ray beam to get them all.

I do appreciate you knowledgeable answer. I will use this sample to measure the instrumental broadening. so is there a way of crushing the sintered sample to a powder without introducing lattice strain.

May be by tempering after crushing.
But I am not able to recommend temper conditions for your sample.
May be some other colleagues comment on that.
You may however use another standard material for instrumental broadening detection. Please have a look at the appropriate chapter at attached ppt.
