I want to simulate the S mesurament setup of a metasurface. I took an horn antenna and simulated it's gain at my frequency. The I placed one on a side and the second on the opposite side. They are placed at 2*d^2/lambda from the surface. D is the antenna max dimension.
How can I extract the S parameter of the surface from the S parameter of the measured 2 port of the antenna? There is a setup? I tried differents simulation, but their are strange.

well... I don't know the exact configuration, but you can extract the S parameter of the surface by compensating phase and attenuation factors such as exp(i*beta*L). But if the structure is too huge (phase accumulation in the surface layer), impedance calculation from S parameter will be not accurate (thin metasurface is a good example)
I also cannot visualize the setup from what said..but probably its similar to the old paper by E.G Neumann (Elektromagntische Oberflächenwellen)[sorry in german but you can visualize the setup] ;its essential the comparison of a dielectric cladded surface with a corrugated metal surface excited by a horn antenna;This kind of setup can also be applied for any sort of metamaterial you would like to test that way.
