I just read a question thread about the 0/1 knapsack problem, in which someone asked how to code the bat heuristic. My reaction was to ask something like the short-hand "WTF?". This is one of the easiest binary LP problems of them all, so WHY go through the problem of coding and performing a lot of experiments, with an a priori given win for the IP approach? What good will it do? The verdict is out, and there is absolutely no point in trying to convert anyone by showing the results - as indicated above. Why??
