i am working on a simulation of a Carbone fiber beam, my beam is designed in CATIA-V5 and exported to ABAQUS. when i submit the job, some errors figured "the volume of 8 elements is zero, small or negative. check coordinates or node numbering, or the mesh seed. in the case of a tetrahedron this error may indicate that all nodes are located very nearly in a plane. the elements have been identified in element set ErrVolSmallNegZero."

Most likely in the Carbone fiber beam definition you selected the option to move slave nodes to align with the master surface. This is a strain-free adjustment, and it doesn't take the element quality into account. If you open the ODB there will be an element set named ErrElemVolSmallNegZero. Highlight that and verify that it's on the Carbone fiber beam surface. If it is, then turn off the move slave nodes option in the Carbone fiber beam definition.
The ODB is the Abaqus output database, with extension *.odb. It's what you open to view the results.
To find the ErrElemVolSmallNegZero set if the ODB hasn't been created because of the error:
Go to monitor -> Data file -> text to find: ErrElemVolSmallNegZero and you will find where the problem is.
I had the same problem, but I found that there was an error in the assembly.
Does anyone know what is "polepiece.CATPart" in Catia v5? I don't know how and where to find it ?
Sometimes in deformation with contact pairs, the wrong definition of the normal shell/membrane causes this error. The definition of the normal shells in contact pairs should be such that they touch each other.
To check the normal direction of the shell/membrane: Property Module--> assign shell/membrane normal.
