I am wanting to merge data from 3 countries, in 3 difference data sets.
Each dataset contains the same variables (i.e., age, weight, gender).
I do not want the variables to overwrite each other, I want to combine all the 3 countries so that each individual within each data set maintains their data on these variables.
Ultimately I am looking to run bivariate regression with the variables, and then have the country included as a DV.
How should I approach such a merge?
I tried to create IDs in each data set and then add a unique 'A' in front of the ID for one dataset, then 'B' in front of the IDs for the other... but I can't seem to get that idea to work.
I have googled a lot and need to ask now for help.
I am using SPSS
but would hugely appreciate instructions for STATA as well.

Consider this native R dataset I attached. It is with respect to CO2 uptake in a variety of plants: This could have been multiple datasets with plant names: Qn1, Qn2, Qn3. You just stack them up row-wise with the column names in the same order and redundantly specify the plant name in each dataset.
You do the same thing with your dataset. In each countries, dataset include a redundant "countries" column name and specify the country: USA USA USA USA USA USA ... etc and then in the other country Japan Japan Japan Japan Japan, ... , and then your final country Norway Norway Norway Norway Norway Norway Norway Norway, ...
Open a new spreadsheet and merge all the datasets with the columns in the same order. You just stack up your datasets row-wise.
If you want to do an analysis on each country's set separately you would have to group by column name "countries" .

I agree with Adron Ung. Considering the names of the countries as a column would be a nice idea, and then, all the values for the three columns - age, weight, and gender - could just be added one after another. For this, you can use R functions such as rbind. Check out a similar solution using custom R scripts at the following link.
