Hi all,

I am going to make silanol group (Si-OH) on the surface of silica by using piranha solution. However, H2O2 in my lab is stored for a long time and can decompose. I concern that if the concentration of H2O2 is not precisely 30%, can the piranha solution (H2SO4:H2O2 3:1 v/v) remain its strong oxidation and create silanol group? If not, is it reasonable if i increase the volume of H2O2 such as 2:2 or 3:2,...?

I think that mechanism of this reaction can help me but i can not find it.

Please do not hesitate to ask me for more detailed description.

Thanks so much in advance.
