It could be an app where everyone could register by himself his product when it' s bought. Then everyone could register the moment when his product is not more working and it' s not more convenient to fix it. These data could be available for registered user. So, if I want to buy a phone, or computer or a similar device, I can avoid the brands that I can suppose to use "obsolescence programmed", a fraudolent and catastrophical practice from an ecological point of view. Obviously we have to refine this app, managing to avoid the input of fraudolent or not useful data.
That's a good idea that can be supported by the potential customers. On the other hand, it's not going to be an easy task to identify all the companies/manufacturers. Many companies which we may consider of low reliability still exist and even thriving because they have their own customers. So, making a clear line between the two types you have mentioned is going to be really tough.
The app should allow to have simple data about some major product of some major company, without any judgement. If I buy the product x I could know that his average lasting is tot, while the product y is last more or less That' s all. Personally I dont like to change device or cars too often but I can choose it.
To struggle "obsolescence" programmed it s important to qualify human work too.
