I plan to perform ChIP experiments with wild-type mouse cells (no GFP transgene) using an anti-protein antibody raised in goat. May I use an anti-GFP antibody of the same isotype raised in the same host (goat) since GFP is an irrelevant antigen for mouse cells? I am aware there are commercial isotype controls; just trying to understand if I can do without that.

Thank you for the answers, in advance.
