At present the evidence at best suggests there may be an association between use of ACE inhibitors and increased mortality with Covid-19. It is difficult to make strong recommendations on the basis of this.

Many of my patients are concerned about this possible association and so I am switching patients to alternative agents to improve compliance with treatment.

Thank you for your interest. Some say that ACE inhibitorshave have a "permisive" role for COVID 19. And not only them but also angiotensine II receptor inhibitors. On the other hand, some authors consider that there is not enough study to sustain these opinions. So, in my vision, I consider that changing current medication is not good, taking into consideration the benefits they provide. But keep in mind the side effects. The patient with high blood pressure should respect all the preventing rules, like all of us.

There are certainly chalenges with changing BP medication.

I do however think that considering the circumstances of today- it should be conducted in vitro studies to try to answer these question, and since these may be conducted fairly rapidly- they may serve as guidance to the clinical setting.

If treatment with ACE inhibitors do in fact increase the viral potent of Sars-cov-2; these medicines should be re-evaluated at the present moment.
