My first degree was in Physics and Solar Energy. Presently, I want to obtain a master degree in renewable energy (either energy technology, energy engineering etc.). I am looking for possible topics for my master thesis.
I think, it is better for you to search in research plans of some universities, at there you may continue your higher study, then after selecting the project, you can contact or consult the supervisor on the project.
Research at graduate/postgraduate level is always aimed at solving a pressing science or engineering problem. As such, you need to identify a problem or gap in the field you have mentioned above to proceed.
One way to do this, is to carry out an indepth literature review of publications, books or other literature in the field over a certain period say the last 5 or 10 years. A good source of high quality publications is the Web of Science or SCOPUS database as well as bibliographic software such as Mendeley or Endnote.
Once you have identified the related literature, you will need to do thorough reading to identify a problem or "gap" as it is termed in academic circles. Next, you can set out to address the gap. Good luck with your search.

Answer depends on what level are you dealing with renewable: system level - integration in grid or similar, or device level - which include a lot of electronics knowledge, or material level - how PV cell works on structural view for example...
