Hi all scientists here in this group-help needed to find out how to count bacteria (green/red) in an image from fluorescence microscope? I have green and red bactria to count from images, for further analysis to make a graph-I am very new in the field of bacteria and bacterial staining. I managed to stain my bacteria showing membrane damage using Live/dead staining kit from Molecular Probes. please suggest some web based free program.Thanks in advance.
Hi Bharati, we use the free software ImageJ to do counts of Live/dead bacteria in microscopy images. You can download the programme and tutorials on how to use it (it is not very user friendly but very popular as it has many functions). Another option would be to run the stained bacteria with counting beads through a flow cytometer and calculate the bacterial count. Lize
