Linguistic Diversity in Touat, Algeria

In 2020, Dr. Tahar ABBOU published a paper titled Linguistic Coexistence in the Southwest of Algeria: Taznatit and Arabic in the Region of Gurara as a Model in Rufuf Journal, issued by Ahmed Draia University in Adrar, Algeria.

The paper examines the linguistic reality in the southwestern region of Algeria, focusing on the coexistence between the foundational language (Amazigh), as the predominant Amazigh tongue in the area, and the introduced language (Arabic), following the arrival of the first Arab tribes in the 12th century up to the present day. Dr. Tahar ABBOU approaches the topic from cultural and social perspectives, using an engaging and purposeful style to shed light on a unique pattern of linguistic coexistence in the Touat region.

In a similar context, Professor Bachir Bouhania published a book addressing the subject from a socio-linguistic perspective, titled:

Bouhania Bachir highlights several critical points, most notably the imminent extinction of the Zenati dialect—a linguistic phenomenon that underscores the urgent need to document this dialect before it is too late and it disappears entirely.

Both researchers, each with their distinct style and methodology, have contributed valuable insights into the reality of the Zenati dialect, enriching the knowledge base for readers and researchers interested in linguistics, sociology, dialectology, and history, particularly in the three regions of Touat: Gurara, Central Touat, and Tidikelt.

They also have other significant studies in this field, which are beneficial to general readers and specialised researchers alike. These works are available on platforms such as ResearchGate, Academia.edu, and various academic journals, including the Algerian Journal Platform asjp.cersit.dz.

I highly value the contributions of researchers in this field and consider these works to be qualitative additions that enrich our understanding. In the future, I hope to share and comment on some related research, aiming to benefit others and encourage further exploration, insha’Allah. Algeria is blessed with remarkable linguistic diversity that deserves more attention and study. This rich linguistic heritage calls for greater support and encouragement from researchers and institutions to explore and preserve it.

تناولت هذه الورقة الواقع اللساني في منطقة الجنوب الغربي الجزائري، حيث ركزت على واقع التعايش بين لغة التأسيس (الأمازيغية)، باعتبارها اللسان الأمازيغي السائد في المنطقة، واللغة الوافدة (العربية) منذ وصول أوائل القبائل العربية إلى المنطقة في القرن الثاني عشر الميلادي وحتى يومنا هذا. وناقش فيها طاهر عبو الموضوع من جانب ثقافي واجتماعي، بأسلوب هادف وشيق، ليُسلط الضوء على نمط فريد من أنماط التعايش اللساني أو اللغوي في الإقليم التواتي

وفي السياق ذاته، نشر أ.د. بوهنية بشير كتابا يعالج الموضوع من جانب لساني اجتماعي بعنوان:

وقف بوهنية على نقاط جد مهمة، لعل أبرزها إشارته إلى أن اللهجة الزناتية على شفا الاندثار —وهي ظاهرة لسانية تستدعي ضرورة توثيق هذه اللهجة قبل فوات الأوان واختفائها بشكل كلي

ساهم الباحثان، كلٌ بأسلوبه ومنهجيته المتميزة، في تقديم معلومات قيّمة تعكس واقع اللسان الزناتي (كلهجة)، مما يثري الرصيد المعرفي للقارئ والباحث المهتم باللسانيات وعلم الاجتماع، وكذلك الباحثين في علم اللهجات والتاريخ، خاصة في مناطق الإقليم الثلاث: قورارة، توات الوسطى، وتيديكلت.

ليس هذا فحسب، بل لديهما دراسات أخرى قيمة في هذا المجال، تفيد القارئ بشكل عام والباحث المتخصص بشكل خاص. هذه الأبحاث متاحة على منصات مثل بوابة الباحث، أكاديمية، وكذلك في مجلات علمية متنوعة مثل منصة المجلات الجزائرية asjp.cersit.dz.

أثمن كل ما يقدمه الباحثون في هذا الميدان، وأجد هذه الأعمال إضافات نوعية تسهم في إثراء المعرفة. سأحاول مستقبلا مشاركة بعض الأبحاث ذات الصلة والتعليق عليها، بقصد النفع والتشجيع على البحث، إن شاء الله. فجزائرنا تزخر بتنوعات لسانية رائعة تستحق الدراسة، وهي بحاجة إلى مزيد من اهتمام الباحثين والدعم في هذا الميدان، بالإضافة إلى التشجيع على استكشاف هذا التراث اللغوي الثري.
