I'm looking for any one who has successfully isolated and grown F.prausnitzii
This year is our first step in our move towards targeted treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Children.
If you would like to discuss bacterial isolation from stool, share successful methods or ask more questions for your own work I would love to hear from you.
Our first hurdle is finding a replacement for Rumen fluid in our culture methods for isolation.
Any Ideas?
Faecalibacterium prausnitzii is gram positive, mesophilic, rod-shaped, anaerobic bacteria. The bacterium is named in honor of German bacteriologist Otto Prausnitz. in 2002. Faecal bacterium prausnitzii is a major member of the Firmicutes phylum and one of the most abundant bacteria in the healthy human microbiota. F. prausnitzii depletion has been reported in several intestinal disorders, and more consistently in Crohn's disease (CD) patients.

I personaly not have work in this area.

Hi, I think you can use the YCFA medium for isolation of Faecalibacterium.
However, you better have a powerful platform for strain dereplication such as MALDI-TOF MS.

Hi, I was just wondering if you ever came up with anything regarding the rumen fluid. I am trying to use it in media for bacterial culture and I am having a hard time filtering mine. Any suggestions?
