I try to form zero zinc nanoparticles, Due to Zinc is so reactive so its form a passive layer of Zinc oxide over Zinc particle .Now i want to know is zinc oxide it self work as a reductive medium to degraded pollutant or it work as a catalyst in the reaction .

To answer your question, it's necessary to know the chemical content of wastewater and its pH. If in this wastewater, there are powerful oxidizing mineral compounds, your Zinc oxide will have a reducing role and vice versa!
