Dear Researchers on Information Science,

After the publication of our article Information as Recorded Knowledge (Correia, Mara Cristina Salles and Tarcisio Zandonade. “Information as Recorded Knowledge.” Social Epistemology Review and Reply Collective 4, no. 9 (2015): 13-39), we are coming to the conclusion there is not only a single Information Science, but a variety of scientific disciplines studying Information. Thus, despite maintaining the original concept of Information as Recorded [and Communicable] Knowledge, we are becoming convinced there are several Information Sciences. However, as these dissimilar Information Sciences adopt an analogical concept of information, in our opinion they should be named as Theories of Information. We would like to know: (a) what is your position on this proposal? And (b) which Classification of Information Sciences is preferred for your study and research?
