If you consider consciousness as response to the environment, then plants without any neural system also show responsiveness in various ways.

A green plant grows towards sunlight.

A leaf of a Sundew plant immediately starts movements of the tentacles to catch a fly as soon as it senses landing on its leaf.

Regarding the cycle of virus replication and behavior of Sundew plant, I do not think that consciousness only occurs in the nervous system.

As it seems, programmer and stimulant of emerging consciousness are genetic sequences.

I agree with Prof. Shibabrata. We can't rule out consciousness entirely for other living things aside from human beings. I agree that some plants have consciousness. We need to comb studies into other life-laden creatures for possible signs of consciousness. Best regards

As it seems, we are faced with a huge paradox in response to most questions about the consciousness. There are many different ideas about the existence of consciousness in animals, plants, fungi, and Microorganisms. I think this subject is strongly dependent on the human definition of consciousness. Some researchers find the reaction of plants and microorganisms to their surroundings only as a result of chemical interactions.

They say that the plants do not have any perception and awareness of hunting act. for example on Wikipedia has been told about animal consciousness:

"The topic of animal consciousness is beset by a number of difficulties. It poses the problem of other minds in an especially severe form, because non-human animals, lacking the ability to express human language, cannot tell us about their experiences. Also, it is difficult to reason objectively about the question, because a denial that an animal is conscious is often taken to imply that it does not feel, its life has no value, and that harming it is not morally wrong. Descartes, for example, has sometimes been blamed for mistreatment of animals due to the fact that he believed only humans have a non-physical mind. Most people have a strong intuition that some animals, such as cats and dogs, are conscious, while others, such as insects, are not; but the sources of this intuition are not obvious, and are often based on personal interactions with pets and other animals they have observed."

But some other researchers, such as David Chalmers, believe that consciousness and space and time have fundamental ties.
