I am having problems finding information on what has been done so far in Africa in the field of hydroponics and identifying the knowledge gaps that my project may need to address.
These are conference papers by Martin and his co-authors:
Du Plooy, C. P., Maboko, M. M., Van den Heever, E., & Chiloane, S. (2012). Research and technology transfer by the Agricultural Research Council to sustain the South African hydroponic industry. Acta Horticulturae, (947), 147.
Maboko, M. M., & Du Plooy, C. P. (2009). Effect of stem and fruit pruning on yield and quality of hydroponically grown tomato. In African Crop Science Conference Proceedings (Vol. 9, pp. 27-29).
Nxawe, S., Laubscher, C. P., & Ndakidemi, P. A. (2009). Effect of regulated irrigation water temperature on hydroponics production of spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.). African Journal of Agricultural Research, 4(12), 1442-1446.
Likewise, I could not access ref. 6, that looked relevant, in this paper:
Wahome, P. K., Oseni, T. O., Masarirambi, M. T., & Shongwe, V. D. (2011). Effects of Different Hydroponics Systems and Growing Media on the Vegetative Growth, Yield and Cut Flower Quality of Gypsophila (Gypsophila paniculata L.). World Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 7(6), 692-698.
There is likely to be additional, unpublished information about projects led by international agencies, such as CIAT, This should be available in project reports, Paul.
