My team has recently conducted a bibliometric analysis in Medicine in Latin America, but It took us quite a time to develop it. Now we are exploring new areas to investigate more in our conclusions, but we are curious as to whether there is any training available in bibliometric methods and tools in order to optimize our work.

I truly recommend participation in ESSS. I was in 2013 in Berlin and I had found it very valuable to my research! Next edition will be in 2014. Maybe some links from my paper about ESSS (paper is in Polish, full text is available via my profile in RG) will be helpfull. If you need more information do not hesitate to contact with me.
Thanks Philipp and Magdalena for this valuable information. I have spoken to some colleagues who perform bibliometric analyses locally and all of them stated that their bibliometric work came out sort of by intuitive research. When we look back, we are able to identify its value and suppose it must be sort of easy and informative.
However, in most cases, bibliometric studies currently rely completely on electronic online information, which one might supposed can be analyzed by software programs.
I will closely review the ESSS information, I was not aware of this organization. Please be sure to share any other resources you might hear,

Thank you so much for all the useful info. I have spent the past few days reviewing the presentations and documents from the ISSI and the ESSS. They have been very helpful for me to understand some basics, to point me to where to read and get some statistical packages for information processing.
In addition, I was not aware of specialized journals on the field, some of them even have publications about my country.
So, what you and Phillip have suggest me has been great advice!
