I've seen several publications and in many publications the abbreviations for the molecular vibration modes using greek letters don't match with others even if they refer to the same. The only exception seems to be the use of nu for stretching (both sym and asym). I've seen using delta with different subindexes for all deformation modes but in other they use gammaw for wagging mode for example.
So, I was wondering if anybody know if there is any standarised or regulated nomenclature on this (IUPAC?) or if it just depends on the author.

Unfortunately, there are no standard or IUPAC nomenclature that is followed by all researchers. However, the attached paper may be of help.
Some people will just order the vibrations according to their wavenumber (highest frequency is nu1, etc.). Technically this is only correct if the molecule posses no symmetry. They should additionally be ordered according to the symmetry subset which they fall into (as described in the paper Alokmav Datta showed) ... also, take a look at NIST which has lots of examples (e.g. for water):

Some people use gamma and delta to describe vibrations, it's been a while since I have seen these so I would have to refresh my memory on what they stand for and as I remember it wasn't as easy as it really should be to find, hence your question... (what you wrote certainly is on the right tracks) ... Probably someone here can comment quicker than the time it would take me to find this again. I would just say that I prefer not to use these though because it can lead to confusion in my field since alpha, beta, gamma, epsilon, etc. typically refer to different solid crystalline phases...
The most standard nomenclature is that as defined in the classical book by Gerhard Herzberg, Molecular Spectra and Molecular Structure.
There is not a IUPAC standard nomenclature for molecular vibrations but there are several books that can help to interpretate IR and Raman spectra: if you need I can suggest someone.
Yes, there are no IUPAC recommendations about this issue. However, the most widely used are Herzberg's nomeclature and symbols. Additionally, I'd recommend Schachtschneider's papers about description of molecular vibrations. Namely, Schachtschneider's recommendations are approved in all computer programmes which deal with vibrations.

From what I've seen in the field people use the nomenclature described in book recomended by Nikola Biliskov - described on page 33 in bottom part.
