I think that you want a simple method to produce ITO or FTO. You can use spray pyrolsis to form and deposit such films on the gals. For the details of the processes please follow the paper titled

In case of solar cells you need high transparency and conductivity. So your options are limited to: FTO/ITO, Pt nanolayer, Ag nano wires and Graphene. In case you are working on DSSCs, your options will be limited. You have annealing process at (usually) 500°C which means ITO & Ag nano wires can not be choosen. If you can reduce temperature to less than 100°C and get access to Ag nano wires solution, their deposition is fairly easy (simply spraying in room on the glass!). I guess (not sure) Pt cannot be used due to danger of oxidation. Achievement of a single layer carbon is difficult and ITO just like Ag nano wires, is sensitive to tempreture (400°C). So the best option at the end is FTO. Mainly due to thermal and chemical stability.
I think, for the high efficiency Solar Cells, at the moment there is no alternative to FTO/ITO due the their conductivity, transperancy and robustness.
