Social Media is now a days are used for various purposes globally.My point is that,How it is used for enhancing productivity of agriculture?.As we know Agriculture is a vital sector supplying our daily food stuffs.Therefore specific role is to be identified for further enhancement.Hence the question.

I am told there are WatsApp groups of farmers in Maharashtra sharing market intelligence & crop alerts. Such things will multiply in the days ahead.

I think so. Rural vegetable farmers in Zimbabwe are now using whats app to check for the price of vegetables at the market before bringing their stock to the market. Before they supply, they discuss reducing quantities to prevent oversupply and low prizes. Commercial farmers can now start and stop their center pivot irrigation systems from inside their houses or far away places using the same or similar platforms
Good example from Zimbabwe. As vegetable is to be harvested in timely manner.What happens to crop when they are to wait for price?

I think in every aspect we can use social media to enhance the productivity. In our university agromet adviseries are issued weekly twice on real time basis based on medium weather forecast by considering current crop conditions.
Some farmers have weak educational background but uses the device appropriate for social media to be connected with productivity enhancing inputs such as price information, input access and weather characteristics
