Lumpkin & Dess (1996) makes an important distinction between entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial orientation (EO). This construct has innovativeness as one of it's dimensiones. Entrepreneruship refers more to market entry, EO is what it takes to accomplish market entry. Hope that helps.
Congrats for placing a relevant and interesting question at the forum. Great. Innovation is one of the three basic pillars of entrepreneurship, as the entrepreneurship theories go. You've rightly stated that innovation is a key aspect of business level strategy with implications for quality, price and sustainability. Entrepreneurship should also be essentially accompanied by and consist in risk-taking and organising competency. Thanks
While there are well-known examples of innovation solving emerging problems, too often, many of our entrepreneurs are trying to solve problems while potentially missing out on massive opportunities in developing countries.
Innovation is an important component of entrepreneurship but it is not essentially part of it. Innovation term is developed from novation. So if something is new is innovative, whereas the entrepreneurship always does not requires innovation. Duplication or even replication of idea may work. Though now a days 'innovative idea' become most important factor at planning and even implementation stage for a successful entrepreneur.
Making a distinction between entrepreneurial process and small business management process, Hatten (2009) describes stages of the entrepreneurial processes, which starts with innovation. Entrepreneurship is inconceivable without innovation.
Innovation is at the core of an entrepreneur. Need to distinguish the type of entrepreneur? Look at " A New View of the Skew: A Quantitative Assessment of the qQuality of American Entrepreneurship" it considers IDEs; Innovation Driven Enterprises. This has its roots all the way back to Schumpeter.
it is necessary to be the typical characteristics that define the leading cross-business incubators are very busy and the ability and aspiration to success. And we can define these properties as follows
1 - autonomous capacity to take decisions: has the ability to control the work and results
2. Higher energy level: working diligently and found the extraordinary efforts in order to succeed.
3. big need for achievement: stimulates to accomplish, and looking up to achieve the goals that are challenging.
4. Self-confidence: has the ability, and very self-reliance and confidence.
Leadership comes in a lot of cases, new innovation, which changes in the area where he works in full, and this type of entrepreneurs is relying on them in the development of the entire country's economy, and talked about it (Schumpeter) who's counting innovation that comes Entrepreneurs economic growth and the source of the change engine the structures of the industry, and to improve social welfare.
Entrepreneurs tend to focus on being different than current competitors. That may not make them survive or thrive. Creating true Innovation requires your product or service to be both Different and Better. Your business will be successful if it is both Different and Better than the competition.
Yes, there is a relationship between entrepreneurship and innovation. Because, entrepreneurship caters to opportunity or a need in society.
Especially for first generation entrepreneurs, they require a blend of causal and effectual reasoning along with a level of cognition and drive. Because paucity of resources and funds, deems it necessary to look for 'innovative' processes to implement their ideas. They have to look for the most effective and efficient processes. Innovation is required by everyone (the variance may be at the degree and levels) working in any firm/organization.
Entrepreneurship, is beyond identification of a need or awareness. It also requires action. And thats where innovation comes into play. Knowledge may be possessed by a person, but innovation is the "action" or process of innovating, process is an emergent or putting the act of innovating into practice.
Look at the most successful first gen entrepreneurs, they go beyond mere build up or stacking up of codified knowledge; In fact during crisis conditions we are forced to look for innovative ways out (especially if we are ina sinking ship; Knowledge is possessing awareness that we will die if we dont get out; innovation is the construct we use to look as to how to get out) Assuming entrepreneurs look for a way out. Innovation is important.
Yes , there is relationship between innovation and entrepreneurship , if the business work in effectiveness and efficiency , so this lead to create new ideas and innovation then this business lead to entrepreneurship.
It's as simple as a deduction: SMEs create competitive advantage through innovation, flexibility and consumer relations. Entrepreneurship is the process of SME creation. So being an entrepreneur means being innovative.
I am of the view that there is a strong relationship between innovation and entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship has to do with creating wealth by selling a product/service in a unique way (right price, right quality, right presentation etc) to meet identified gaps within an identified market (note that the product/service could also be unique). This is in itself is innovation.

Zhao, F. (2005). Exploring the synergy between entrepreneurship and innovation. International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research, 11(1), 25-41.
"One important advance in the discipline and practice of management is that both now embrace entrepreneurship and innovation. A sham fight these days pits “management” against “entrepreneurship” as adversaries, if not as mutually exclusive. That’s like saying that the fingering hand and the bow hand of the violinist are “adversaries” or “mutually exclusive.” Both are always needed and at the same time. And both have to be coordinated and work together. Any existing organization, whether a business, a church, a labor union, or a hospital, goes down fast if it does not innovate. Conversely, any new organization, whether a business, a church, a labor union, or a hospital, collapses if it does not manage. Not to innovate is the single largest reason for the decline of existing organizations. Not to know how to manage is the single largest reason for the failure of new ventures."

In general, Entrepreneurship is the best outcome on an Innovation to benefit the human being as a whole. Innovation works as a brain to Entrepreneurship.
logically, we can say yes, but we need to carry out a study and scientifically analyze our data from the study to prove our "yes" . At least, we can be able to know the degree of the relationship. Knowing the degree is very important.
The relationship between innovation and entrepreneurship is now better seen in the subject called 'Technopreneurship', which is now becoming popular in most engineering and technology schools.
innovation and entrepreneurship are inter related. Every entrepreneur , whenever, he deals with a project, has his own inimitable style of approaching the project. That means that he is innovative in his approach of executing the project. Each of our five fingers are not the same , though they are a part of our hand. Likewise, each entrepreneur will plan, design and execute the project, even if it is the same project being taken by others but he will have a different approach. He may feel that some steps are redundant and may find a short cut. Hence, innovation in the approach is bound to happen and depending on the suitability of his new ideas, he will reap the results .. A good thought process, Prof. Krishnamurthy Prabhakar, for kindling our innovative spirit on entrepreneurship. Congrats. Gemini Ramamurthy
Good question. Congrats. Innovation is one of the four pillars of innovation. If no innovation, entrepreneurship does not exist. It's as simple as that.
