I am currently searching for information about the history of Scientific Journal Clubs, but I have only found medical literature. Any suggestion would be welcomed.
Amalia - there's not a great deal, but some, if you relate it to the discipline of nursing. The problem you might be finding is that there are other terms than just scientific journal clubs to describe the same thing in other disciplines.
Thanks Dean! You are right... However, I have found some scientific journal clubs (using this term) operating at differents universities, but there´s not available literature about these... I´ll continue seraching...
They are Ian - and they sure should be encouraged. Where they are implemented though - they are often short-lived events. The trick is in driving and sustaining the initial drive.
I think that you will be interested in what was going on at BYU in the U.S.A concerning a biochemistry journal club "JC" in which postgraduate students were encouraged to attend by offering them credits. Not many universities are active in JCs in chemistry, as I noticed through the years.
