I am researching the importance of precisely tuning the plasmonic resonance wavelength in plasmonic-based devices. Are there specific plasmonic-based sensors or other devices where achieving such precise resonance tuning(e.g., within 10 nm) is essential? If so, could you provide references or examples of such applications?
I guess it might be the case for SiPm [Silicon Photomultipliers] used for near -IR (typically 905nm) LIDAR. The Sipms are very fast (0.1nsec) and single photon sensitive devices. That makes them attractive for LIDARs. However, typical pulsed LIDAR laser is at 905nm or even longer wavelength and absorption in very hin (~ 1um) SiPm structure is poor.
On another hand, it would be great to avoid expensive optical narrowband filter ( needed to filter out backroundf light) - and for that SiPm which sensitivity is peaking just at Laser wavelength would be great.
