Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. I am looking for a paper where in vivo bone Callus shape and implant specifications should be available for Validating my FEA Callus shape details? Human or animal data both are fine.
There are lots of papers with Xray, histology, and microCT images over time, at least in rodents, but probably not so many that show the variability. The size (and shape to some extent) depends on the stability of fixation, and the time post injury, but its typically an elongated sphere with the widest part centered on the fracture site. The geometry of the bone also makes a difference. Bruker or Scanco might have some nice videos on their websites showing 3D models as well from some of their instruments - the static reconstructions you put in a paper might not show all the information.
One study that I was involved in is here: DOI 10.1002/jor.24650
