Kjeldahl method is one of the best methods for quantifying nitrogen conc, but from the many samples (regular interval samples taken from prod media -24 samples), which to follow?
There are two instrumental methods.
Some TOC machines have a add on nitrogen detector. Another option is the "Elementar analyser" or CHNO(S) analyser of which new models can also be injected water samples (traditionally this is a solid sample analyser).
If your sample has free amino groups in the nitrogen source you are using you can go for ninhydrin test otherwise there is no other way for Nitrogen estimation other than Kjeldahl's method. Gud luck:)
you could react amines with NO2 and create a diazo colour that you can then analyze through a spectrofotometer or something similar

Ya..CHN analysis is for solid samples ,For which we need in the powder form.But this is residual media analysis (Ammonium sulphate in residual form - liquid) .I have to search for new model CHN analyser which can take samples in liquid form.
Have you considered Total nitrogen methods. Oxidation of the sample with persulphate and detection of all nitrogen as nitrate (DIN EN ISO 11905-1).
Hach also has a method like this named "simplified Kjeldahl" (I have not tried it!).
