In our lab we are using roche's light cycler II for real time PCR. But the current issue is,we have ordered the plates for real time from applied biosystems. Lot of opinions are coming regarding the compatibility of these plates with roche's system.Can we use these plates for real time pcr with roche?
I assume you are talking about LC480 II. No, you cannot use those plates, simply because they should be low profile (not sure about microamp). If your plates are SBS compatible, probably they fit in dimensions, overall. Make sure they are low profile, otherwise the plate loading system will be damaged.
BUT the frame cut corner is at H12 on Roche plates. Microamp has frame cut corner at A1 !
Let's assume you can place it in the other direction, LC480 read barcodes on the plates, not sure if you are allowed to disable this feature.
It is a huge bad luck you chosen ABI from so many PCR plate suppliers which offer so-called compatible PCR plates (with Roche cyclers among others). Anyway it is highly recommended not to use plates from other suppliers, those customers having the curiosity to compare parallel experiments saw clearly the difference.
I'm using for LC480II plates from 4titude, cat# 4ti-0381. They are cheaper and are designed specifically for this apparatus. Work perfectly.
Nope u cant use applied plate in roche, both are designed differently and are two different system however since you have brought it use it in normal PCR u can run 96 samples in a run
