I am interested in an algorithm for hexahedral automatic mesh generation direct from medical segmented images. (Voxex-based hexahedral mesh) Do you have an algorithm for successfully doing this task? Your work will be gladly acknowledged.

Numerical simulation related to casting needs several algorithms and modeling techniques as follows:
1) PISO :coupling flow field to pressure in case of unsteady problem
2) SOLA-VOF will be required to solve free surface(this is fixed grid method; there are some alternatives for solving free surface depending on accuracy and time consumption)
3) enthalpy method to solve phase change phenomena
4) numerical models for solving magnetic field coupled with flow field
I don't have the answer for this, but I do know that Grant Gauger, MD (neurosurgeon and researcher at UCSF and the VA in San Francisco) has done a lot of research on voxel analysis in regards to closed head injuries.
See snappy hex mesh in open foam. Think there is also a recent revision: foamyhexmesh.
Maddali's Ref. is very useful. I have used both SIMPLE and PISO and found little difference. Therefore the Simpler the Better!
