Nowadays, the non-conventional gas exploitation and geothermalism, are growing up into the strategical energy policy in well-developed countries. A powerful industry devoted to fluid injection is emerging and new geosciences outcomes are emerging also. However, there is unclear the role of the governments in the developing of such industry and worse, in the role of these governments as guarantee of the environment and safety for the people located in the affected area. In this sense, some draft documents can be obtained from the web but the official position of the strong nations (USA, CANADA, EU, CHINA, etc.) are hard to locate. Also, technical documents elaborated by these countries and estatal agencies are unusual. My query is about technical and legal documents regarding induced seismicity all around the world.
I guess the diffused seismicity due to oil exploration is not very different for the deep fluid injection. It is not enough to create a situation when the environmental safety issue arise.
Thank you very much for your answers. Here in Spain there is a growing interest in deep injection related to hydrocarbons industry (conventional and no conventional) and up to now we're watching in countries with more experiencie in this issues. Moreover in legal issues where there is a void.

Thank you very much Charles. I have read at a glance the text and it seems very interesting. I wonder whether the US goverment uses this report to make laws for fluid injection businesses. Here in Spain, recently a seismic swarm up to M 4.7 (mbLg) was triggered by gas underground storage, located at the eastward mediterranean shoreline of Spain. Several ministerial agencies were involved with the aim to clarify what happened and to determine responsabilities. Up to now, there is a legal gap about penalties and responsabilities. Companies invoked the lack of knowledge to avoid legal punishment. Of course they stopped pumping gas. My intention is to know how others countries deal with the fluid injection, in order to suggest here in Spain several good manners in an incipient business, which could provoke an increasing in the occurence of natural disasters and pollution.
