Prototype reactor is must before making a commercial reactor. Magnetic confinement and Inertial confinement fusion reactors are getting close to the prototype. After successful operation of prototype work will be taken up for commercial fusion reactor. It seems still we have to wait for some time. In the mean time various other ideas on fusion are also being proposed. In any case prototype has to be made on any new concept. But above two ideas are getting most of attention world wide.
