Is there any kind of impurity expected in the liquid phase while using a Nafion Membrane as a separator for the CO2 electrochemical reduction?

In the analysis of the liquid products of the CO2 Electrochemical reduction a non-negligible impurity shows up in the NMR spektra, before the electrolysis starts, which after different experiments seems to come from the Nafion Membrane. Can the degradation of the Nafion membrane be the reason? Does any of you have a similar case?

not sure. but usually the Nafion membrane needs to be washed and pretreated before use.
