I am indicating two publications dealing with the effects of fire on soil temperature at various depths. Data are presented to show the ability of soil to attenuate the temperature range from 2 cm depth. Also show the favorable effect of temperature rise on seed dormancy breaking of some species.

You can get a sense of how soil temperature varies with depth when exposed to fire by using the software FOFEM, which is physically based and produces graphs of temperature vs depth. Curious that a few years back I did simulations for Cistus ladanifer.
