As we all know there are many software components in an automobile system. These softwares have different ports through which they communicate through signals with other software components(to ports in it).These signals are just represented by lines and since these lines intersect each other it is difficult to understand the representation.This representation of communication of data will be very untidy and difficult to understand.So is there any idea in information modelling in which we can generate simplicity to this complex representation?
You'd use different colors and/or thicknesses per-wire and also some layout algorithm (there are several from the graphs field, used for laying out electronics diagrams or for system/component diagrams in software etc.)
Another thing is if you need this to show in a single view (for print) or if it is interactive/explorative (drill down into more info/detail, like semantic zoom)

Another thing you could exploit is the concept of Semantic Zoom - that is to show more info as you zoom in (mark nodes and edges of the graph with a LOD value [Level of Detail] - say if the have value 0 they always appear, if they have value 3 they appear when zoom level >=3 etc.). Could also use two values there to define a zoom range inside which the elements appear, using NaN or Infinite or negative value to specify that the right edge of the range is open [for the left edge obviously 0 is the min value, since there aren't negative zoom values normally])
You could also do Zoom Portals (e.g. use DeepZoom Composer tool from Microsoft or create DeepZoom image pyramid programmatically) if you want to show more/different deepzoom pyramid (can practically zoom-in as much as you want) when you zoom close to a specific part of the diagram. Speaking of Silverlight, it is available for Windows and MacOS-X and also for Linux (via MoonLight [older port of Silverlight] and PipeLight [uses WINE]).
