The production of waste presents significant challenges to the University as the associated legislative, economic and environmental pressures can be difficult to control and rationalize. This Strategy provides) vision for the sustainable management of waste, which will allow the University to:
• Manage resources more efficiently
• Prevent and minimize waste
• increase recycling and participation
Goals/Objectives
• Minimize waste generation;
• Maximize reuse, composting, recycling and material recovery
• Develop waste management practices in cooperation with the community
• Adjust procurement policies so they are reflective of commitment to waste management principles;
• Ensure waste management practices are safe and effective;
• Minimize costs; and Become a regional leader in waste management.
This will provide the following benefits to the University:
